It was 1942 and America was at war with the world…again.  They met on a train.  He wore his Master Sergeant’s uniform resplendent with ribbons across his chest.  She wore a jaunty red beret. He was immediately smitten; she was impressed with his uniform and curious about this man, George Middleton.  She held out her gloved hand and introduced herself.  “I’m Carolyn Allen.” 

And so it began.
